Amberleaf is a neighborhood acupuncture practice on SE Belmont in Portland. We start by listening, treat with slender sterile needles and candid advice, and tell you directly when acupuncture isn’t the right call.
Small needles.
Honest guidance.
361 time-tested points.
Five concerns we see most.
Find the row that sounds like you. Each page explains what the trouble tends to be, what care looks like and the visit range people typically need. Orientation, not a diagnosis.
Chest pain, abrupt weakness, the most severe headache you have ever felt or difficulty breathing calls for urgent care. Call 911.

75 minutes,
six stages, $95.
First visits cost $95 and run about 75 minutes: a thorough intake, our read on things in everyday language and, when it fits, your opening treatment.
Every minute earns its place — unhurried enough to be careful, paced enough to respect your day. Most visitors leave saying it felt shorter than it was.

Arrival
Complete the intake form through our text link ahead of time, and the front desk takes about two minutes. Come in loose sleeves and trousers that roll past the knee.
0:05
Your story
What hurts, when it began, how you rest, eat and cope day to day, and what you have already attempted. Bring your medication list.

Pulse & tongue
We feel the pulse at each wrist, observe the tongue and palpate for reactive spots. Every check is explained before it happens.

Our read
Our sense of the situation, stated simply. When it seems like a matter for your physician, we say so and point you there.
0:45
Opening treatment
With your okay, 10 to 20 slender sterile needles and 25 quiet minutes in a warmed room, plus one small habit to test at home.

The path forward
A written outline with a sensible visit count and the cost of each. No advance package necessary.
6sessions,
not 30.
That is the middle of the range for a newcomer with low-back trouble here. A few people need three sessions, others need ten. We reassess each fourth session and wind down once progress stalls.
Counts taken from our 2025 appointment records and patient surveys. Outcomes differ person to person.
One practitioner,
start to finish.
Three acupuncturists plus a massage therapist, each with a specialty. You choose one of them and stay with that person instead of rotating through whoever is open.

“No clinician had ever asked that much about my rest. Six sessions later, my shoulders had finally dropped away from my ears.”
$95 opens the door.
History, pulse and tongue review plus your opening treatment where suitable. Later you pay session by session, or bundle visits when a longer course makes sense.

Questions.
No — scheduling is direct. Should your plan insist on a referral for acupuncture, June at reception verifies that ahead of your appointment.
Nearly everyone feels little or nothing — each needle is roughly a hair’s breadth. A heavy or warm sensation near a point sometimes appears and generally passes within a minute. Anything sharp gets adjusted or taken out right away.
That turns on the complaint and its history. Four to eight sessions covers most courses. Your number arrives in writing at the first appointment, with a reassessment every fourth session.
Very, in licensed hands using sterile once-only needles — our standard. We go through your background first and send on anything that belongs with a physician.
Roomy sleeves and trousers that roll past the knee — our most-used points sit on the limbs, ears and scalp. Forget, and we lend you shorts or a gown.
We participate with Aetna, Cigna, Regence, Providence and Moda. Share your card beforehand and June confirms the details. Outside those networks, you receive a superbill for reimbursement.
Something else on your mind? Ring June at reception. Your coverage gets confirmed before you arrive.Call (503) 555-0147
