Low back.

Twinges on bending, rigidity on rising, dullness after long sitting — mechanical back trouble and its six-session middle ground.

Acupuncture needles placed across a visitor's low back

BL23 · Typically 4–8 visits

What it tends to involve

The first steps out of bed are the stiffest, bending to load the washer catches, and highway miles leave a dull band across the belt line. What reaches our tables is mostly mechanical — joints and muscle rather than discs.

Mechanical trouble is good news in one respect: it tends to answer conservative care. Heat loosens the guarding, needles settle the irritated segments, and cupping frees the broad muscles that brace around the spine.

Sessions & course

What sessions look like

Needles go to spots across the low back, hips and outer legs, regularly joined by heat and cupping in the same visit. Practical coaching — how you lift, sit and get out of bed — carries equal weight with the needling.

The middle of the range for a newcomer is six sessions, reassessed each fourth one. A few straightforward cases resolve in three or four; longer-standing ones stretch toward eight or ten before spacing out.

  • First-thing rigidity and bending twinges
  • Dullness after driving, lifting or desk time
  • Middle of the range: 6 sessions, not 30
