Cupping, stated simply.
Glass cups, soft suction, ten minutes over the shoulders or back. Most often wedded to acupuncture — $100 for the 75-minute session.
The idea
Lift, not pressure.
Cupping sets glass cups in soft suction to raise the surface layer of muscle and fascia on the shoulders, back or hips. Where massage drives inward, cups draw upward — handy for the obstinate sheet of tightness spanning the upper back.
Cups rest in place around ten minutes while you recline. The drawing sensation runs strong yet stays short of pain; suction gets tuned to you.
The marks
Those round imprints.
Cupping leaves circular traces for three to seven days. These are not injury bruises — they clear unaided and should stay comfortable. Schedule around open-back clothing and group photos accordingly.
Trace shading shifts session to session and person to person. We watch that drift as one rough signal of how the tissue answers.
Pairing
Strongest beside needles.
Cupping nearly always shares the appointment with acupuncture — needles for the deeper pattern, cups for the surface grip. The combined hour runs $100 for 75 minutes.
Neck, shoulder and low-back troubles pair best with cups. Your practitioner confirms the fit; certain skin conditions and blood-thinner use rule it out.
Safety
When cups stay shelved.
Cups avoid broken skin, rashes, varicose veins and the front of the neck, and go lighter — or stay off entirely — for easy bruisers and blood-thinner users. Mention any of these during intake.
Aftercare stays simple: keep the area warm and covered through the day, drink water, and hold hard training until tomorrow.
