Cupping leaves round marks, and every week someone asks whether something went wrong. Nothing went wrong — here is what the marks are.
Cupping uses glass cups with gentle suction to lift the top layer of muscle and fascia. Where the cups sat, small blood vessels near the surface leave a round mark. It is not a bruise from injury: the marks should not be sore, and they fade on their own in three to seven days.
We pair cupping with acupuncture for stubborn neck, shoulder, and low-back tension — needles for the deeper pattern, cups for the surface. The combined visit is $100 for 75 minutes.
Two practical notes: keep the area warm and covered the rest of the day, and plan around backless outfits. If you bruise easily, take blood thinners, or have broken skin where cups would go, tell us at intake and we will adjust or skip it.
